bees
heyyy guys... i just woke up, checked my email for the first time in awhile, and found out about this blog- great idea. as i'm trying to type i'm totally being distracted by a loud BUZZING coming from the attic. this happened a couple of weeks ago- the buzzing continued for a few days, and then, one morning, a single wasp emerged from the attic door and flew directly to the window by my bed. i'll let you know what happens with this guy. but, as this bee is trying with all its might to save its own life, its buzzing is causing me to reminisce. remember when andrew went down the wrong side of the slide at allen's lane- right into a hornets nest? and then i think i remember some lady rubbing onion all over him? rose was always TERRIFIED of bees. all you had to do was make a buzzing sound in front of her and she would freak out. and then the time that my five year old self made up the best song ever- "a double decker bumble bee a double decker bumble bee..." i truly thought that it was a siamese twin bumblebee flying around. and memories of bees swarming nonna's grape vines. those poor bees would get chopped in half by her fabric scissors. i bet latvia has some serious honeybees...

Oh yes! I really can see those bees being chopped by Nonna's big ol scissors. And I can only imagine the bees in Latvia since Andrew and Guna both love the bee droppings so much. Didn't he have a big glass jar of them at some point???
I still feel guilty to this day for taking my spelling bee trophies and buzzzzzzing with them in front of baby Rose. She would scream. Terrible of me. Really terrible.
That last comment posted as Mike, but it was really me: susanna. Mike never would have buzzzzzed out poor Rose.
it was bad to do but it was soooooo funny at the time.
My happy bee memory which came to me a few times was you singing "a double-decker bumble bee" on a whole-tone scale as a mantra. that is the best bee memory ever. i can't believe you actually told me what you were singing! hope the wasps dissipate.
